Rick Rypien, for the foreseeable future, won’t be taking the ice.
The NHL, in response to Rypien being involved in an altercation with a Minnesota fan during a game October 19, has suspended the Vancouver forward. Rypien will remain on suspension pending the outcome of a hearing with league officials.
A native of Coleman, Alberta, Rypien appeared in 69 games for the Canucks last season, totaling four goals, eight points and 126 penalty minutes.
