Minnesota head coach Brad Childress spoke his mind.
It cost him.
The NFL fined Childress $35,000 for comments he made about the officiating in the Vikings 28-24 loss to Green Bay October 24 and for disclosing information obtained in a subsequent conversation with a league official.
On October 25, Childress had a discussion with Carl Johnson, the NFL’s vice president of officiating, regarding the reversal of a call that would have resulted in a Minnesota touchdown.
“I was told this morning that that was a touchdown, by Carl Johnson,” Childress told the media. “He was disappointed to see that reversed.”
The play in question involved an apparent catch in the end zone by tight end Visanthe Shiancoe. Game officials, after reviewing the play, ruled the relevant pass incomplete.
