The Southeastern Conference (SEC) has suspended Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl.
Under the terms of the suspension, Pearl can’t coach the Volunteers for the first eight conference games of the season. The punishment stems from a violation of NCAA rules and the misleading of investigators.
“I have been a very public advocate for playing by the rules,” said Pearl. “When you don’t play by the rules, these are the things that can happen.”
Tony Jones, associate head coach for the Volunteers, will be overseeing operations during Pearl’s absence.
