Greenspan Championed Olympics, Participants

The Olympics lost a true champion in 2010.
Bud Greenspan, the award-winning filmmaker that died December 25 at the age of 84, spent much of his life documenting the highs and lows of Olympic athletes. Overall, he made ten official films for the International Olympic Committee (IOC), including a documentary about the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
In addition to eight Emmy Awards, Greenspan won the George Foster Peabody Award in 1996.
“For more than six decades, Bud Greenspan has connected the Olympic Movement to everyday people in ways the founder of the Games couldn’t have imagined,” said Scott Blackmun, CEO of the U.S. Olympic Committee. “Through his films, we came to truly know the Olympic athlete and unique spirit that lives in each competitor.”
