Bruce Chen will be back on the mound in Kansas City.
A left-handed pitcher, Chen agreed to a $2 million deal with the Royals January 15. The signing comes just a day after Kansas City inked another starter, Jeff Francis.
“I’m very pumped, and I’m very happy, and this is the team I want to help,” said Chen. “Today has been a very good day.”
Chen, 33, went 12-7 with a 4.17 ERA last season. In a career that began in 1998 with the Atlanta Braves, he is 48-50 with 785 strikeouts.
Francis, who comes over from Colorado, was 4-6 with a 5.00 ERA in 2010.
