2013-14 Buffalo Sabres Public Relations Internship
TIME FRAME: Duration of the NHL and NLL seasons, September 2013 through May 2014 (subject to change)
DESCRIPTION: Interns will be responsible for assisting the full-time public relations staff on game nights, special events and during designated office hours during normal work hours. The internship is meant to be an initial experience in sports public relations and the intern will be involved in a wide range of activities related to the public relations operations of the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bandits.
REQUIREMENTS: Candidates should be pursuing a degree in public relations, journalism or a related field and have some type of experience in sports. Strong writing skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and a hard-working, outgoing personality are desired attributes of a candidate. Selected interns should also be flexible and able to adapt in high-pressure situations.
Candidates must receive college credit in order to participate in the internship.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
o Assist with credential distribution and greeting media
o Press box setup and operations
o Distribute period stats/game notes, out-of-town scores, run materials to broadcast trucks, assist with in-game notes.
o Record home and visitor player audio, recording and transcribing postgame coach press conferences, assist with putting together postgame media email.
o Interns will also complete long-term projects while coming in for scheduled office hours.
This can include media guide research work, assisting with game notes, conducting interviews, writing for team publications and other projects as needed.
