Embry Paved The Way

Wayne Embry
A Sport Management Resume

Wayne Embry played in the NBA from 1958-69, but his work as an executive surpasses his on-court accomplishments. Considering he scored more than 10,000 points and grabbed more than 7,500 rebounds, that says a lot.

In 1972, Embry became general manager of the Milwaukee Bucks, making him the first African-American GM in sports. While with the Cleveland Cavaliers, he was twice named NBA Executive of the Year. Today, he’s a senior advisor with the Toronto Raptors.
