This is a unique opportunity for an experienced leader passionate about student success, athletics and educating and encouraging wellness within the greater student population. The successful candidate brings his/her experience in NJCAA Division athletics to serve as Director of Athletics and Wellness.

Bunker Hill Community College is looking for a strong leader to bring his/her interpersonal communication skills, ability to foster interdepartmental collaborations, and strong record of commitment to educational values to develop and implement the athletic philosophy and policies. The Director is responsible for the administration and supervision of all phases of athletics and wellness including: athletics, intramural, club, fitness and wellness activities. This full-time position reports to the Chief Student Affairs Officer/Dean of Students and directly supervises the Fitness Center Manager, Administrative Assistant, and 6 part-time head coaches. The successful candidate will be well-organized with financial planning and management skills and will directly supervise all compliance processes to adhere to NJCAA rules and regulations, in a manner consistent with the high ethical standards of the College.

Bunker Hill Community College offers 6 sports with roughly 100 student athletes. In the fall of 2015, the men’s soccer team won National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Region XXI Championship and the Massachusetts Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC) Championship. The team represented Region XXI in the Division III National Tournament where they finished as runner-up in the National Championship Game, earning a #2 national ranking. The men’s basketball team won the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Division III Region XXI Championship and the Massachusetts Community College Athletic Conference (MCCAC) Championship in Spring 2016. They traveled to the national tournament in March 2016 where they concluded their season with a final rank of 8th in the nation among NJCAA Division III men’s basketball.

Required Qualifications
•        Master’s degree in Higher Education, Student Affairs, Sports and Athletic Administration or related field
•        At least five years of professional Higher Education or High School Athletic Administration
•        Demonstrated knowledge of athletic sporting programs with respect to planning, equipment, compliance issues, and facility needs
•        Commitment to the philosophy of Division III Athletics at a large urban Community College
•        Proven ability to work with a diverse faculty, staff and student population
•        Demonstrated excellence in oral, written, and interpersonal communications required
•        Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends
•        Exceptional collaborative leadership skills to work with multiple departments throughout the college to ensure the success of student athletes
•        Must be an advocate for underrepresented and marginalized communities; experience working with diverse student populations, including but not limited to African American, Asian and Pacific Islander, International Students,  Latino/a, LGBTQ,  low-income, first-generation, and women populations
•        Demonstrate a  commitment to continuous learning on current diversity, social justice, and inclusion topics; and ability to work with a wide range of students, staff, and faculty in a diverse college setting
