Play-By-Play Announcer
The Play-By-Play Announcer shall provide a description of live game actions while covering the game in an unbiased, and accurately fashion. This person will work collectively with the Color Analyst to deliver a professional broadcast that includes pre-game, intermission and post- game analysis. This candidate should already have, or acquire an educated knowledge of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, as well as the Buffalo Jr. Sabres. An upbeat, exciting, and clear voice is a must.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 1-year broadcast experience
- Possess a thorough knowledge of hockey, rules, and the OJHL
- Strong communication skills along with a high degree of
professionalism
- Able to work cohesively with the Color Analyst
- Past-playing experience is a preferred but not required
- Game day/night attendance at home games (27+) is required
The Buffalo Jr. Sabres have been a member of the 22 team Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) since 1998, playing a 54 game schedule from early September to late February. Teams compete for the coveted Buckland Cup, as champion of the OJHL from the beginning of March to early May. This position is volunteer only and cannot be used towards college credit. A typical week will
consist of 1 Sunday home game beginning at 3:30pm, roughly 4-5 hours of work in total. Please send a resume, along with 3 references to General Manager, Charlie Mendola.
