Jr. Sabres Need Equipment Manager

Volunteer Equipment Manager

This position reports directly to both the General Manager and the Head Coach. The Equipment Manager will coordinate all aspects of player equipment as well as other duties around the locker room. Some of the responsibilities include inventory, equipment disbursement, cleaning, laundering, maintenance, and other duties as assigned by the GM and Head Coach. Extensive interaction with staff, athletes and other rink employees is required of this position. These responsibilities are to be taken care of at all practices and games.

Abilities and Skills:

  • Ability to sew
  • Ability to make effective equipment modifications
  • Ability to properly sharpen hockey skates
  • Ability to maintain effective relationships with management, OJHL teams, facilityrepresentatives, fellow employees, and the general public Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Required to attend Tuesday and Thursday practices, along with Sunday afternoon home games
  • Practice set up (towels, jerseys, socks, laundry bags, water, etc.)
  • Skate sharpening, equipment repairs, equipment modifications, and sewing
  • All general housekeeping duties for the following areas: dressing room, trainingroom, coach’s office, bathrooms, showers, and hallways
  • In charge of communicating with opposition trainers/equipment personnelabout all confirmations on building availability, arrival times, practice ice
    schedules, etc.
  • Game day set up: home team dressing room, visitors dressing room (pucks,water, score sheet, etc)
  • In-season inventory of all hockey equipment, supplies, etc.
    The Buffalo Jr. Sabres have been a member of the 22 team Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) since 1998, playing a 54 game schedule from early September to late February. Teams compete
    for the coveted Buckland Cup, as champion of the OJHL from the beginning of March to early May. This position is volunteer only and cannot be used towards college credit. A typical week will consist of 1 Sunday home game beginning at 3:30pm, roughly 4-5 hours of work in total. Please send a resume, along with 3 references to General Manager, Charlie Mendola.
