Public Address Announcer
The Public Address announcer will be responsible for acting as “The Voice of the Jr. Sabres” during all home games. This person will be accountable for preparing scripts for in-arena announcements, announcing starting line ups, goals, penalties, advertisements, as well as playing appropriate music to provide an enjoyable Buffalo Jr. Sabres game experience for fans. A strong voice, confident attitude and professional manner is of the utmost importance. This person may also be required to conduct intermission interviews, and interact with the crowd based on game-by- game presentation plans. Candidates should have general knowledge of hockey rules and terminology as well as some prior public address experience. We ask that all applicants provide an audio sample along with their resume.
Qualifications:
- Experience in PA announcing or Master of Ceremonies (M.C.) of different events
such as sporting, theater, school related activities, etc - General knowledge of the game of hockey and the OJHL
- An understanding of writing scripts for in-arena announcements
- Ability to multitask while having a strong attention to detail
- Game day/night attendance at home games (27+) is required
The Buffalo Jr. Sabres have been a member of the 22 team Ontario Junior Hockey League (OJHL) since 1998, playing a 54 game schedule from early September to late February. Teams compete
for the coveted Buckland Cup, as champion of the OJHL from the beginning of March to early May. This position is volunteer only and cannot be used towards college credit. A typical week will consist of 1 Sunday home game beginning at 3:30pm, roughly 4-5 hours of work in total. Please send a resume, along with 3 references to General Manager, Charlie Mendola.
